  Dr. Howard E. Worne

Dr. Worne developed one of the world’s most comprehensive arrays of multi-complex organisms for use in environmental microbiology.

Recognized as one of the world’s leading microbiologists, Dr. Worne enjoyed a career spanning more than 50 years, the majority of which had been devoted to biotechnology.  His work in life sciences and environmental sciences took him all over the world.  He received numerous awards and honors, and published more than 150 scientific papers in various disciplines.  Dr. Worne received degrees as Bachelor of Science (1938), Doctor of Medicine (1940), Doctor of Philosophy-Biology (1957), and Doctor of Philosophy-Biochemistry (1962).

Through his research, Dr. Worne isolated naturally occurring bacteria which, when applied in specifically prepared groups and measured amounts, perform a variety of remediation and waste management tasks.
