NAAC Contracting Bulletin
FEATURED PRESS  |  October/November 2007

Epizym’s Additives take the hard work out of slurry spreading

As slurry spreading season is upon us, NAAC corporate member Epizym would like to remind all contractors dealing with slurry that its products can make working life far easier on farm, and earn them commission too. The product, available for pig and cattle slurry, is proven to:

Liquefy slurry

It does this both through digestion and by putting the slurry solids into suspension, even those within a crust. This makes slurry far easier to pump and spread, greatly reducing blockages in machinery. Liquid slurry also maximises storage capacity in stores, helping farmers with proposed NVZ regulations to store slurry for longer. Robin Williams, Umbilical Cord Contractor, Chester from Chester says, “my job is far easier and quicker to do on farms where slurry is treated with Epizym. With thinner, consistent slurry, I rarely get blockages in my machinery and can get the job done faster.”

Decrease smell and ammonia emissions by up to 50%.

An odour assessment run on pig slurry by Silsoe’s Research Institute proved gross odour emissions to be reduced by 55% per kg pig liveweight. Indole, skatole and organic amines, three of the most potent and offensive odours in slurry, are reduced to odourless compounds by the bacteria. This makes the job more pleasant for contractors and farm workers alike. It also helps pig farmers to meet IPPC “sensitive receptor” regulations as well as farms receiving complaints from neighbours.

Boost fertiliser value

It does this by making ammonia-N more readily available to the crop. A three year study in the Netherlands showed treatment with Epizym can increase crop utilisation of slurry nitrogen from 50% to 60% of the total-N content. Excellent commission rates paid to contractors willing to distribute Epizym slurry additive. If you are on a farm which could benefit from Epizym, why not contact Stuart Aitkenhead on 01892 506 950 to discuss the excellent commission rates available to contractors who make sales of this product to farmers.
